Abstract

|
|
A Plantar fibromatosis is a rare benign hyperproliferative disease in the plantar fascia. While surgical removal or radiotherapy is regarded as the therapeutic mainstay, recurrence rates and impairment of daily activities remains substantial. In terms of alternative therapeutic option, to our knowledge, only one study has reported therapeutic effect of high-energy extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) in this condition. We present a case of left mid-sole plantar fibromatosis diagnosed by ultrasonography and confirmed by tissue biopsy, in which pain was successfully managed and size was reduced by low-energy ESWT.
